Synopsis

My review
This is the 1st book in the Helen Grace series and I was hooked after the first chapter. Arlidge’s writing is sharp and witty, and he quickly drew me into the dark and twisted mind of the killer. I’m immediately drawn to complex plots and Eeny Meeny had plenty of twists to keep me guessing.
The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives, offering insights into both the victims’ and the detectives’ experiences. This added to the suspense as I tried to piece together the identity of the kidnapper and the motive behind the twisted game. I also found the premise of the book unique and am a huge fan of Arlidge’s writing style which is fast-paced and engaging. I especially liked the short chapters, which added to the sense of urgency and suspense.
Arlidge adeptly introduces Grace as a multifaceted and captivating character. Her tumultuous history and inner struggles enrich the narrative, rendering her a relatable and engaging protagonist. Additionally, Arlidge skillfully introduces the supporting characters, crafting a cast that is both authentic and fully developed.
Overall, Eeny Meeny is a gripping thriller that kept me guessing until the very end, and its unique concept, strong characters, and suspenseful plot made this series a must read for me.
